Editorial Policy

Our standards for accuracy, sourcing, AI use, conflicts of interest, corrections and the responsibilities of everyone who publishes on Delviews.

Last reviewed and updated: July 2026

Core Editorial Principles

Delviews exists to publish content that is useful, accurate, and positive - content that helps readers understand the world around them, act wisely, grow, discover opportunities and engage responsibly with the issues that shape their lives.

Every editorial decision must pass a simple test: does this serve the reader? Our editorial compass points toward what is helpful, contextualised, responsible and honestly presented.

Accuracy before speed

We do not rush to publish. We verify first.

Helpfulness before virality

Clicks do not justify inaccurate or harmful content.

Context before controversy

Facts without context can mislead. We explain.

Human approval always

No content publishes without human review and approval.

Accuracy & Sourcing

Delviews applies a three-tier risk model to editorial content, with verification requirements scaled to the sensitivity and potential harm of the subject matter.

Standard

Examples: Lifestyle tips, entertainment reviews, productivity guides

Required review: Category Editor + final approver

Elevated

Examples: Finance guidance, relationship advice, faith claims, health information

Required review: Source verification + specialist review where needed

Sensitive

Examples: Politics, allegations, minors, medical claims, public controversies

Required review: Managing Editor review; legal check where appropriate

Writers must record the primary sources used for each elevated or sensitive article. Unverifiable claims must not be published as fact.

Editorial Review Process

All content follows a structured workflow before it reaches readers. No article may be published without completing the stages appropriate to its sensitivity level.

1

Idea / Assignment (Managing or Category Editor)

Create brief, assign category, deadline, target keywords and writer.

2

Draft (Writer)

Compose article, attach sources and supporting media, then submit for review.

3

Category Review (Category Editor)

Check angle, accuracy, tone, category fit and completeness.

4

SEO / Content Review (SEO Reviewer)

Check headline, search intent, metadata, internal links and readability.

5

Final Approval (Managing Editor)

Approve, return for revision, reject or schedule for publication.

6

Monitoring (Editorial & Analyst)

Track performance, reader feedback and accuracy over time.

AI Use Policy

Delviews uses AI tools as editorial assistants, not as autonomous publishers. This distinction is fundamental to our trust promise.

Permitted AI uses

  • Research assistance and background summarisation
  • Outlining and structural suggestions
  • First-draft generation, subject to full human review
  • Rewriting and headline suggestions
  • SEO improvement recommendations
  • Summarising long primary sources

Not permitted

  • Automatic publication without human approval
  • Using AI output as a source of facts
  • Publishing AI-generated quotes attributed to real people
  • Using generated images in news contexts without disclosure
  • Bypassing verification for AI-drafted factual claims

The writer or editor who submits an AI-assisted article is fully accountable for every factual claim, regardless of how the text was produced.

Conflicts of Interest

Delviews maintains strict separation between editorial decisions and commercial interests. No advertiser, sponsor, partner or financial relationship may influence editorial articles.

  • Writers must disclose any personal or financial relationship with the subject of their articles.
  • Editorial staff may not write about organisations they have a financial interest in without disclosure and Managing Editor approval.
  • Sponsored or affiliate content is clearly labelled and produced under separate commercial guidelines.
  • Advertising placement does not influence editorial coverage or article selection.

Sensitive Topics

Certain subject areas carry elevated risk of harm if handled carelessly. Delviews applies additional safeguards to these categories.

Health & Medical

All health claims require authoritative medical or scientific sources. No unverified health advice.

Finance & Investment

Financial content must not constitute regulated advice. All financial articles carry a standard disclaimer.

Faith & Religion

Faith content must respect the dignity of all traditions. No content may mock, demean or incite hostility.

Relationships & Family

Content involving minors, abuse, or intimate partner issues follows a strict sensitivity protocol.

Allegations & Investigations

No unverified allegations against named individuals. Managing Editor approval required. Right of reply offered.

Mental Health

All mental health content follows best-practice reporting guidelines with relevant signposting where appropriate.

Content we will not publish: Unverified accusations, harmful misinformation, defamatory speculation, dangerous medical or financial advice, content that endangers individuals, and content that exploits minors.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly and on the record. Material errors of fact, attribution, or misrepresentation are corrected with a visible note on the article and a corresponding entry in our public corrections archive.

Diversity & Representation

Delviews is built on the belief that African voices, stories and perspectives deserve thorough, confident, and nuanced coverage. Our editorial decisions work to ensure that the diversity of African experience is represented in what we publish and who we commission.

We will not publish stereotyped, reductive or demeaning characterisations of any community, faith group, nationality or identity.
